I guess John Lennon nailed it right on the head when he sang about ” Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.”
It was a little more chaotic when it came to mine. In between trying to make sense of philosophy, ruminations, muses, life in particular and generally everything in between, the tenure to Russia happened.
And then there was an invitation to a party, and from there on it was a heady ride. Suddenly, parts of the jigsaw fell in place, patterns began to make sense, and as they say ( I am feeling a little sheepish here:), the grass began to look a little more greener, and the sky a little more blue.
It also helped that you are stuck in the wasted desolates of a merciless Russian winter, and the only solitary bachelor of the entire contingent. Freedom is your greatest blessing and your biggest curse.
Suffice to say, Marina helped complete the parts that were missing, and now I know that it was reciprocated, unconditionally and selflessly, when one looks back on it.
It is something that still keeps us together.
The impish sense of humor also helps a great deal.
Now, she knows that too.:)
